With only one day left of work, we are looking forward to heading south on Saturday. It looks like a good weather window between high pressure systems and strong wind warnings will come through over the weekend. A few days sail south with less swell and hopefully we can be in the Whitsundays by Monday. Then let the fun begin!
Final preparations before our trip to the Whitsundays would not be complete without a trip up the mast to check the rigging. I really enjoy going up the mast to see the great view and get in some abseiling. I’m lucky to be winched up the mast so I don’t have to climb all the way to the top.
Following the commissioning of our new sailing yacht, a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i in 2008, we set sail up the East Coast of Australia. Over two weeks, we travelled 1326 km from Mooloolaba to Townsville through some of the most untouched cruising grounds in the world inside the Great Barrier Reef.
We have 11 days to go until we depart for the Whitsundays. Not too much left to do in preparation, and hopefully some good weather will see us swiftly to the south.
